Surrey Climate Commission opposes Gatwick expansion

At the hearing today into the expansion of Gatwick Airport, the Surrey Climate Commission CIC will explain why it thinks the plans for transporting travellers to the enlarged airport are inadequate. The Commission has already pointed out that the government’s own advisers, the UK Climate Change Committee, has recommended no net airport expansion and asked why the advice is being ignored.

Surrey Climate Commission is proud to be part of the prestigious Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) project, funded by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, via the Greater South-East Energy Hub. The project is led by Surrey County Council Greener Futures team working with a range of local partner organisations. LEAD aims to increase the number of Surrey homes that receive tailored energy advice and support, to help residents retrofit energy saving measures to their homes.

“We are failing to deliver on climate change and the whole political system is responsible.”

“Now more than ever, this is a critical discussion around how we set up the mechanism to ensure delivery, now and in the future, no matter which party is in power.”

What’s Stopping Us Stopping Climate Change? event with Natalie Bennett, Lord Deben and Ed Straw

On 28th September from 6.30-8.45pm everyone concerned about climate change and what we can do about it in Surrey is invited to come to Leatherhead Theatre to an event co-hosted by the Surrey Climate Commission and the Institute for Sustainability.

Headlining the event will be Lord Deben formerly chairperson of the UK’s Climate Change Committee, together with past leader of the Green Party, Natalie Bennett, and systems thinking expert and former PWC global board member, Ed Straw.
