Less Waste, More Share and Repair Webinar: plus Grants available
1st November, 2025 - 15:58
In Surrey, the carbon footprint from imported goods is roughly twice as high as the combined carbon footprint of all local transport, heating, and energy use. However, communities are stepping up with practical, people-powered solutions: from Bike Amnesties that get unused wheels back on the road, to Guildford’s Library of Things, whose borrowing initiatives have prevented 35 tonnes of CO2e, to the Woking Repair Cafe, where volunteers have fixed over 1,400 items, these projects are proving that small actions can add up to a big environmental impact.
Now, even more support is available to those who want to take part. A new Community Waste Grant has launched to help local groups and organisations inspire others to waste less and reuse more. Grants are available to fund practical, community-led projects, with applications due by 5th December 2025.
