New grants for nature restoration and for schools: apply soon!
23rd October, 2025 - 19:17
Surrey County Council’s Greener Futures team has just launched 2 new grants for community groups and schools. The grants are part of a Place Delivery Programme, which includes support for community energy, countryside rights of way, environmental volunteering, and more. The deadlines are 7 November for one and 17 November for the other. Find out more here.
Opportunity 1: Climate Resilient Schools grant: 17th November deadline
Many Surrey schools rely on old or outdated infrastructure, which can cause issues during periods of intense heat or heavy rain, and may result in school closures. This grant can help fund solutions such as solar sails for shading, sustainable drainage planters and rain gardens, and green walls and roofs. Many schools want to do their bit for climate and nature. Do you have connections with schools in your community? Please share this opportunity with them and encourage/help them to apply.

Opportunity 2: Community Nature Recovery grant: 7th November deadline
Grants of up to £5k are available to Surrey community groups. Nature loss in Surrey is above the national average, due to building, habitat clearance and climate change. Local community action is working to turn this around, and the Community Nature Recovery grant is here to help. Examples of eligible projects include supporting flood attenuation such as installing rain butts, improving air quality for example through new planting, and providing better access to high quality green space. View a list of measures can be funded on the Together for Surrey website.
