Surrey Residents Able to Claim Up to £25,000 to Make Homes More Energy-Efficient

29th January, 2023 - 16:49

With winter in full swing, it is ever more important to ensure your home is as energy-efficient as possible. Not only does this help the environment, it also saves money, at a time when many are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

Action Surrey, a partnership between several local authorities, is here to help. Through their Sustainable Warmth Scheme, Surrey residents can claim grants of between £10,000 and £25,000 towards improving insulation or installing renewable technologies such as solar panels or an air-source heat pump.

However, a Sustainable Warmth grant is only available to households which meet two criteria:

1. The household must have a low income.

The household must be either receiving means-tested benefits, or have an income of below £31,000 per annum (or £20,000 after deducting housing costs).

2. The Property Must be Particularly Hard to Heat

A building's energy efficiency is determined through an Energy Performance Rating, which ranks the building on a scale of A to G. Only properties with an Energy Performance ranked D or below are eligible for grants.

Residents can apply for a Sustainable Warmth grant by visiting the Action Surrey website or by calling them on 0800 783 2503.

Be aware - the window for applications will end on Friday 17th February 2023, and installations must be completed by the end of March.
